O’Donnell and witchcraft foil tea party

If Republican Tea Party Senate prospect Christine O’Donnell has her way, she’ll serve Delaware despite all the controversy hovering over her head. First was the creative way O’Donnell referred to her collegiate history. The born-again Protestant has also gone embarrassingly public with her anti-masturbation views. According to the Christian Science Monitor, that’s not all. Christine O’Donnell had some witchcraft stories to share on a 1999 episode of the Television show “Politically Incorrect”. To be most specific, she told the guest panel that she had “dabbled in witchcraft”.

O’Donnell’s witchcraft comment may indicate Wicca

O’Donnell may not know witchcraft, according to the Wiccan info accessible at the Australian site Witchcraft.com. Her claim that she saw a “Satanic altar” while on a date may be a dead giveaway that her grip on the nomenclature was rather loose. Wicca, as outlined by Witchcraft.com, is rather different than some fever dream of primordial evil. It celebrates nature and its cycles while abandoning the silly pretenses society prescribes on the faith via superstition. As nature takes no sides, Wicca is also neutral. No matter what the case, Christine O’Donnell has embarrassed the GOP as a whole. If there were a way to make her disappear, many Republicans would wave the wand.

‘I never joined a coven,’ claimed O’Donnell

O’Donnell claims the witchcraft was merely a chapter in her young life. She isn’t really a practicing Wiccan or other things other than a Protestant, which is a good thing thinking about her jealous God doesn’t suffer the competition. But the current series of bizarre events in Christine O’Donnell’s political life have spurred Republican strategist extraordinaire Karl Rove to action. He has jumped on the “she can’t win” bandwagon. Republican Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana has called for O’Donnell to publicly explain her 1999 comments. While Delaware voters are the ones who will ultimately choose whether Christine O’Donnell is fit to serve the state in the Senate, Rove is seriously concerned about her “background, character, statements and previous actions,” as he lately told “Fox News Sunday”.

The greatest show on earth

However witchcraft isn’t really the whole story; it gets worse. Reported by Raw Story, O’Donnell is under investigation by ethics groups in Washington. Reported by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, O’Donnell allegedly used $ 20,000 of campaign money for her own personal needs. Christine O’Donnell would certainly not be unique if this allegation is proven to be true. That does not mean such corruption should go unpunished, if it is indeed the case with O’Donnell. The concept of Christine O’Donnell claiming that she’s all about responsible government spending is interesting in this case, to say the least.
